Jack Thompson attacks Mortal Kombat Armageddon

PS2 News | The violence isn't the issue.
Fresh from trying to get Rockstar's Canis Canem Edit title banned, Jack Thompson is at it again, this time targetting Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. There's probably some justification in his complaints; you do spill about two litres of blood per battle and you're able to take out enemies with all manner of weapons. Alas, the complaint isn't regarding the violence, it's because you're actually able to make a character that looks like Jack Thompson.

Thompson has fired off a "cease and desist" email to Midway president and CEO David Zucker that states "It has today come to my attention that the newly recently Mortal Kombat: Armageddon contains an unauthorized commercial exploitation of my name, photograph, image, and likeness within the game. You are commanded to cease and desist immediately from the distribution of this game because of this unauthorized, illegal content."

Gamespot is reporting that the image of Jack Thompson is in relation to a Gaming Target Feature that shows you how to create a Jack Thompson character to fight against. If Thompson sues maybe it's time that Samuel L Jackson sued for Saint's Row?. In case your interest has spiked in Mortal Kombat Armageddon you can actually read our review here, it's just about worth buying the game to create your own little Jack Thompson to perform a fatality on. Oh, if only it was real.

Hahaha... Midway couldn't have paid for better advertising than this! Imagine how many gamers pissed off with JT are going to run out and grab this game just so they can beat the snot out of his likeness? Brilliant!

What next, Jack Thompson attacks Nintendog for animal cruelty? "In real life, dog does not have a off button, the game incorrectly display the situation in real life."

My best friend through high school runs blood-sports.net. He alerted me to this about midday, and in the news post he made quite rightly pointed out that City Of Heroes got away with exactly the same thing. Jack going batty about this either proves that he's the stupidest redneck christian short-sighted moron in history, or proves that he's the greatest viral marketer in history.

So it's possible to recreate Jack Thompson? Well ****, I'd say it's possible to recreate about a billion other people in the game as well. He's not the only victim, just the only one having a cry about it.

They are probably paying him to come up with this, i mean it is good advertising. And so what if they can make someone look like you, i mean come on

In reality he should be discussing this with Gaming Target not the game itself. Seeing as they are the ones using his visage without consent or what have you.
