Pre E3 2006: First Guitar Hero II tracks revealed

PS2 News | More axe-wielding antics on the way.
Just over a month after we reviewed the first game, and a little over a fortnight after the follow-up was originally announced, some of the first tracks for Guitar Hero II have been announced.

And hey, they're not bad at all. Top of the list for us is The Kinks' "You Really Got Me", while KISS' "Strutter", Rush's "YYZ", Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" and Reverend Horton Heat's "Psychobilly Freakout" are also set to feature in the 55-strong playlist. And, uh, Butthole Surfers' "Who Was in My Room Last Night?". The rough with the smooth, and so forth. Sadly, that's all we have right now, though it's likely more will emerge next week at the E3 show in Los Angeles.

There's not only licensed songs in the mix either - we're also going to be treated to at least one original recording. Entitled "Arterial Black" and belted out by Drist, who Wikipedia informs us are a "punk-metal band from the San Francisco bay area" (Grandpa - Ed), the song will be played live by Drist themselves at E3 next week to help promote GHII, which will also be shown off publicly for the first time at the show.

That's about all we have for now, but if you haven't already, go and read our review of the first Guitar Hero. It fulfilled all of Chris' Chesney Hawkes fantasies and then some, frankly.
