Rayman 4 confirmed by Ubisoft

PS2 News | Limbless hero heading for all current and next-gen platforms.
Ubisoft has announced that Rayman 4 is in the making for a wide range of platforms, including the (deep breath) PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, PSP, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Revolution and PC. And that's really the only information we have on the project thus far, aside from the fact that the game is in development at the Ubisoft Montpellier studios, and that Rayman and Beyond Good And Evil creator Michael Ancel is in charge of proceedings.

As for a possible E3 showing, we certainly wouldn't rule it out.

I remember when Rayman 2 was one of the best games on dreamcast and it really showed off next gen graphics/colours/animation. I loved that game! I haven't played any Rayman since then.....actually that's really weird...I was obsessed with that game for ages and before the dreamcast launched all I was doing was day dreaming about the adventures I would have in the game.....and yikes I can't even remember what Rayman 3 was. I know there was Rayman M (or some letter)....the multiplayer one for Ps2 and then it was the Lums or the Bandits....or these little things with guns.....was that supposed to be Rayman 3?

Anyone play Rayman 3? If so....any good?

I really hope they crank out next-gen cartoony graphics big time on this one!

Was it anything like 2? Platformer/action etc?

Huge Rayman fan, I hope it stays traditional platformer.

Rayman 2 was most impressive on N64 really. The DC version was great too, but the N64 one was just so great for the system.

I preferred the DC version, but yea, they were all good.

Yeah, so did I (enough to play it through again after the N64 one), but it wasn't, like, the best looking game on the system. But the N64 one was about 90% as good, and it was on a much older system, it was just impressive.

Except the crappy PS1 version.

I would have to agree with David, the N64 version was quite easily the better version, in my opinion.

Sounds great though. Hope this new game doesn't stray too far away from the previous titles in the series.

Not too sure about their decision for every platform though, since it'll mean that the next-generation versions won't get much of a change - PS3 and Xbox 360 obviously their graphics, and Revolution will probably get a beef-up and will only be controlled by the system's shell controller rather than the remote. Interested in how they can turn around the sub-par outing of their last Rayman DS title also.

Looking forward to E3.

Good news as always, especially considering Ancel is on board. Now all they have to do is announce Beyond Good and Evil 2 and E3 will be brilliant. For me at least. icon_biggrin.gif
