New Dragon Quest screens

PS2 News | More images from Square Enix's upcoming RPG.
With Dragon Quest less than two weeks away, Square Enix have made sure that we don’t forget that the game will be hitting stores this Easter period with an onslaught of new screens.

The story unfolds like so; one day, a mysterious jester named Dhoulmagus found a forbidden sceptre that had lain sealed away in Trodain castle – and has now released the sceptre from it’s ancient bonds. Using the sceptre’s power, Dhoulmagus placed a spiteful curse upon the whole kingdom, turning people into thorns, transformed the King and Princess into beasts and froze the land in time. However, the curse leaves you, a young guardsman, unaffected. Time to embark your journey to save your King and country and lift the shadow of the jester's curse.

The story of Dragon Quest isn’t one that really revolutionises the genre, but don’t let that fool you. The game has received glowing receptions from critics and gamers alike as it may not have one particular standout quality, but when everything comes together – it creates one heck of an experience. Just look at the sales figures – 3 million units sold in 3 weeks in Japan.

Worlds will seamlessly unravel before you as players traverse the expansive land, which will take quite a long time as the game has over 100 hours of game play at your disposal. Dragon Quest: Journey of the Cursed King will be available next week on the 12th April in Australia and the 13th in Europe.

It's an import version (USA), it's not available here yet, but I can assure you, it's another great game by Square Enix, they've done it again!
