The lead designer behind Shadow, Fumito Ueda, made the trip over to San Jose with a selection of team members to accept the awards and, once on stage, modestly admitted he had never anticipated enjoying such success at the ceremony. Consequently, they hadn't prepared English language acceptance speeches.
It was a rather less successful night for another Sony creation however - God of War didn't win a thing, despite being nominated in six categories. But on the plus side (in our eyes anyway), Guitar Hero was close behind Shadow with three awards, whilst DS game Nintendogs and Psychonauts both picked up two.
