Shadow cast over GDC awards

PS2 News | Shadow of the Colossus clears up at GDC awards.
The PlayStation 2's Shadow of the Colossus has received five gongs at this year's Game Developers Choice Awards. The game, which was nominated in six categories, is the spiritual follow-up to critical darling Ico, and won awards for Best Game Design, Best Character Design, Best Visual Arts, an Innovation Honour (also awarded to Nintendogs and Guitar Hero) and was also Game of the Year.

The lead designer behind Shadow, Fumito Ueda, made the trip over to San Jose with a selection of team members to accept the awards and, once on stage, modestly admitted he had never anticipated enjoying such success at the ceremony. Consequently, they hadn't prepared English language acceptance speeches.

It was a rather less successful night for another Sony creation however - God of War didn't win a thing, despite being nominated in six categories. But on the plus side (in our eyes anyway), Guitar Hero was close behind Shadow with three awards, whilst DS game Nintendogs and Psychonauts both picked up two.

I wouldn't call Guitar Hero innovative really, they brought Guitar Mania to an audience that could really dig it...

They deserve it for creating such an amazing title on the so-called weakest console of this generation.

Can you change the title to

"Shadow of the Colossus cleans up at GDC awards. "

It otherwise sounds like SoC is a PFY from BOFH.

...but can you play it while riding your BMX and listening to ACDC while reciting your ABCs?

In other words, WTF are you talking about?
