Sonic Riders screenshots

PS2 News | Sonic rides into view.
The Sonic series has been a bit stagnant recently, and the Sonic Team appear to be trying to rejuvenate the franchise with Sonic Riders, which is where Sonic ditches speedy red shoes in favour of a hoverboard - think Airblade meets Sonic. And cringe.

We're still a little dubious about how exciting it is going to be taking control of Sonic and company whilst on a hoverboard, but we'll reserve our judgement for now. Sonic Team have promised that just about every character from the Sonic universe will be playable in a diverse range of areas.

We've included the high resolution images of the game in the media panel. Sonic Riders will be available in March, for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Gamecube. We'll have more on the game shortly.

I saw trailers for this running in shops in Japan. It looks visually impressive, at least, although I think a cross between Trickstyle and F-Zero GX (It does look a little similar) might be better suited.

Lets hope they do a good job with this one.

This game actually looks like fun. Well based on the gameplay vids I've seen. Could be a pleasant surprise.
