Dragon Quest VIII receives European date

PS2 News | The journey begins April 2006.
After setting up a survey to measure the series’ popularity, Square Enix have announced today that the Dragon Quest franchise will finally receive its long awaited debut in PAL regions come April, with the highly anticipated release of Dragon Quest VII: The Journey of the Cursed King.

Thankfully, the game has been fully localised for its long awaited release, featuring a number of new exclusive features for its European release. The game will feature updated British voice-overs, a full orchestral soundtrack, a completely renovated menu system, new battle abilities, and improved animations, making the wait that much more worth it.

The game, which has been out in America for two months now, has gamers partaking on an epic adventure through lush, colourful environments and battling all sorts of creatures – all in 3D, a first for the series. The game is backed by some of Japan’s best talent, with the likes of Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball fame) and Yuji Horii lending their fascinating abilities for the title.

Dragon Quest VII: The Journey of the Cursed King is scheduled for an early April 2006 release, with a similar date expected for remaining PAL countries.

The US version has British voiceovers. They're probably just redoing some scenes.

April is far too long to wait. Theres already a host of good PS2 games coming next year and the next-gen consoles. Crap, well, I'm going to be broke.

Oh, great info. I was a little worried that changing the accent could destroy the game a little. No worries now.

April though, that seems ages away, but the extras sound really worth waiting for.

Mmm - it's still a long wait!! Let's hope it's all on track.

Has anyone played through Dragon Quest 6 on the SNES?

Oh - and I note that Dragon Quest VIII doesn't appear in the release list yet. So I guess that means that no actual date has been confirmed?

Read the article - April. No solid date in April has been given though, but expect the game to show up within the next week or two once the March/April rush begins. Note: It hasn't been delayed.
