GTA: Liberty City Stories for PS2 in Q2

PS2 News | According to Take Two's financial results.
Take Two Interactive released their financial results to the market earlier today and revealed that they will be releasing a PS2 version of their hit PSP title Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.

"Additional products expected for fiscal 2006 include the newly announced Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for PlayStation 2, tentatively planned for release in the second quarter, Bully for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, two new titles for the PSP handheld system, including an all-new Grand Theft Auto, a title based on a new brand for the Xbox 360 and a sequel of a Rockstar brand, all from Rockstar Games; The Da Vinci Code, Prey, and 24: The Game from 2K Games; various other sports titles including NBA 2K7 from 2K Sports; and Family Feud for multiple platforms from Global Star."

Since Take Two's fiscal year starts on November 1st, we can estimate that Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories will make an appearance on the PS2 by the end of April.

The brand new GTA on PSP is far more interesting news to me. I'm really looking forward to that.

Why buy a PSP?

^and, why release a game that is inferior to more recent additions

i wondered what happened to the 24 game.

i have to say, a sandbox game is probably the only way i can see 24 working in a game nature.

Maybe if it's less then $50, and has the camera and graphical problems fixed, this could be a good thing for GTA fans who didn't want to pay $500+ to play LCS.

2K Games is only handling the US release of 24 - SCEE is handling it here (since Cambridge is heading up development on it).

It has got a hell of a lot of stuff to be fixed and it's really not that long of a game anyway, when they do re-release on the PS2 it better damn well have more story missions to play through and longer loops on the radio stations at the very least otherwise I don't think people are going to be willing to pay more than $50.

Wasn't LCS based around short missions, making it ideal for handhelds? Oh well, at least the GBA gets to keep its original and exclusive GTA title.

Doesn't the PS2 already have liberty city stories, oh wait, thats Grand theft Auto 03...

From what little I played of LCS, it was all in the same city as GTA3 (duh) so the only difference is the missions? That's like an expansion pack to GTA3, it has better be cheap.

Well everyone seems to be negative about LCS, but I love it. I've been playing it since xmas and have only recently got onto the second island - I don't think it's short at all. It's fanstastic. Then again I haven't played a GTA since GTA 3, so I probably miss out on that "downgrade" factor you'd feel if you've played later versions.

LCS was somewhat designed for the PSP
Porting it to the PS2 makes no sense from a gameplay standing, only from a money standing. Obviously LCS didn't make enough from just the PSP and now their desperate to double dip. I've got nothing against LCS, just this stupid, greedy situation.

Interesting move on Rockstar's part, or Take Two's. Whatever.
Not sure whether it would warrant a purchase though.

Take Two had a "bad" year. Stock market hates when you miss forecasts.

To be honest GTA San Andreas is a very good game but I only played it for about 8 hours before I had this sinking feeling I was playing GTA III again (I skipped Vice City). So Liberty City isn't going to help me a whole lot here.

Not sure how many times you can dish up the same game and it still tastes good.

But you have millions of Americans who buy rehashed stuff year over year so its probably worth a shot. Works for EA!!
