OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast officially in development
PS2 News | Sega's arcade classic is back again.
Sega have today announced that OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast is currently in development by Sumo Digital - responsible for the Xbox's OutRun 2 - for the PS2, PSP, and PC. This PSP may be drowning in racing games, but we feel this is one more suited to the handheld than a home console. Curiously, the Xbox seems to have been left out - probably a fair call though, as the game is looking to be an OutRun 2 expansion pack.
Of course, the Ferrari license has been well used with twelve models from the Italian giant making the game, including the new F430. Thirty stages from the home and arcade versions OutRun 2 will be in the game, along with a new mission layout - hence coast to coast. Online races with up to six players will also be an option. PSP/PS2 connectivity will be supported - probably only to unlock new vehicles and tracks, though.
The game looks set for a release across all three formats in March 2006. We will have more details closer to then.
