50 Cent: Bulletproof Refused Classification

PS2 News | Yet again.
The OFLC have been at it again and 50 Cent: Bulletproof has been refused classification.

50 Cent: Bulletproof, developed by Genuine Games who brought us the "most excellent" Fight Club, centers around the exploits of the rapper of the same name. The game was originally set for release on December 1st, 2005.

Vivendi now have the option of resubmitting the game for classification or not releasing the game at all in Australian territories.

We'll have more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.

any idea the grounds for refusal? (i couldn't find it on the OFLC website.) from looking around, it seems ultra-violent, but in pre-preoduction interviews it sounds like drug use might play a part.

i suppose i was never likely to get this anyway, not being a fan of the music, but interests pique at this sort of news i suppose.

Our rating system sucks @s#.
We need the R18+ rating for games, not just for this game, but for every other game coming out that we might not get to play here in australia.

While I believe the comments are not too far from the truth (in regards to it being poor), I just wanted to mention that IGN actually found it rather enjoyable in their playtime with it recently. Do what you will with this information. icon_smile.gif

while trying to find out why this game was banned, i came across this site:
http://www.refused-classification.com/
which is all about the RC classification in Australia, and details (in some instances) on why they were applied. (nothing of 50 cent though)

some interesting points were the OFLC trying to ban Duke Nukem 3D after a mod was found to unlock the removed naked ladies. trying, and failing, citing that 18,000 copies were already sold, so it was beyond their control now.

hmm, how many did GTA:SA sell?
(i won't say GTA3, since it was never supposed to be released initially. it was RCed from the outset and sold anyway)
