Being set two centuries on from the original, we'd assume that Jak II introduces quite a few new characters...
JR: Totally new characters. There are no returning characters except for the four principals - Jak, Daxter, Samos and Keira. The bad guys don't return, it's a totally new set of enemies. The old enemies return, but this time they're kind of on your side because they're the slave labour in town and you have to save them from the evils of the new bad guys. They're a humorous throwback to the old game; we're hoping that they'll walk around town carrying packages because they're the forced labour.
Unlike the old game where it was 'the farmer' or 'the mayor' and they didn't really have names or much to do with the plot, everybody in Jak II has a specific function, you see them multiple times throughout the game and they all have a function within the plot. They'll change; some of them will become hostile to you, then friendly, then hostile again, they'll betray you - there's a real plot there.
