Universal Pictures takes on God of War

PS2 News | A movie to break the trend?
Universal Pictures has secured the movie rights to Sony’s recent smash-hit God of War. Mosaic Media Group's Charles Roven and Alex Gartner will produce the feature adaptation. 'We've been enthralled by this project since our first time playing the game in March and realized its narrative had great potential for large-screen production,' Roven said.

Arguably one of the best titles for the year, God of War follows the mythological adventure of the Kratos, an ex-Spartan warrior driven to destroy Ares, the God of War. Kratos carves his way through an immersing adventure that sees him battling all sorts of monsters found in your typical stories of ancient Greece – Hydras, Cyclops, Medusas and more.

Charles Roven’s recent producer credits include Batman Begins, Bulletproof Monk as well as both Scooby-Doo movies. Alex Gartner on the other hand has had reasonable success with movies such as The Upside of Anger and Out of Time.

Stay tuned as more information develops.

I cant see God of War being turned into a live action movie, but a full length CGI movie would be awesome. The cinematics in GOW are awesome.

Wow, if they pull it off it would be a sight to behold. I can't get enough of seeing Mythology portrayed through film. Beasts, Beauties and Gods who could ask for a better cast line up.

Most video game based movies should be CGI anyway so idiots can't change the image of the characters, ie. Kratos as Vin Diesel. CGI movies can look really good and can work quite well, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and Starship Troopers (Only seen this one on FoxKids).
