PlayStation 2 platinum games price drop!

PS2 News | $49.95 to $29.95? You got it.
Sony Computer Entertainment Australia have today announced to us that they have dropped the price of their platinum titles to $29.95.

Along with this, many titles have also been added to the Platinum catalogue including Ratchet and Clank 3, Jak 3, Killzone and The Getaway: Black Monday. Sony have also officially dropped the price of Eyetoy: Monkey Mania and Eyetoy: Antigrav to $29.95.

At this price many of the Sony games are irresistible. Those who were a bit hesitant in the past are encouraged to pick up the games, with some retailers selling the titles for as low as $24!

We've recieved no word yet on if any other publishers will follow suit, with the platinum titles for other publishers retailing at $49.95. Nonetheless, this is an aggressive price cut that signifies incredible value.

Didn't this happen last gen with the PSOne? I recall getting most of my platinum titles at the $29.95 price point - I didn't get the machine til I got a PS2.

Wow, that's awesome, 30 bucks is cheap as. Too bad I don't have a PS2.

It includes every game right?

I might just get WWE Smackdown vs. Raw then...for online play of course.

This is good news indeed. Although I hate the Platinum range (so ugly), I think it is time I started collecting the games I have held out with for so long. First up can be Kingdom Hearts. icon_biggrin.gif

Hmm, should I pick up Killzone? Something about the game interests me....

I'd rather buy the original release second hand then get the shelf-ruiningly ugly Platinum boxes.

i was thinking that too...

but i don't like console FPS games (in case you didn't know icon_razz.gif)

i couldn't really care less about the box the game comes in, i've got a few platinum releases, for both PSX and PS2 (and the PC equivalents)... it's whats on the disc that counts, not the box it came in...

^ I tried Killzone a while back and honestly its just 'another' FPS. Nothing really new that makes you want to play more of it.

^ yeah that's really what i was expecting... maybe i'm still caught up in the hype surrounding it...

i dunno... $30 isn't much to waste really...

then again... i've still got 10+ games i haven't finished now...

True statement that. To be pedantic though, as a collector it is a much better feeling knowing you have the product in the original condition. Knowing that your copy of the game is exactly how it was released.

Like you said, $30 (or less) is worth it to try the game. Buy it at EB and if you don't like it, back it goes. icon_wink.gif

ah but you see i don't see myself as a collector, but a player...

and as a player i'd have no problem buying a game for less if it had the option of coming in a paper sleeve...
