Pro Evolution Soccer 5 - first screenshots unveiled

PS2 News | Konami reveal the logo and the first nine screens for the latest PES instalment.
Konami, bless their little cotton socks, have released the very first batch of screenshots for the forthcoming Pro Evolution Soccer 5, and things are looking jolly nice all round, if rather (well OK, very) similar to last year's version (hardly a bad thing). The game - the latest entry in a franchise widely regarded as the very finest videogame representation of football - is due on PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC in Japan on 4th August, whilst PAL peeps will have to wait until October.

The latest shots feature a cornucopia of international stars ranging from Ronaldinho and Rooney to Raul and Roberto Carlos to, er, Olof Mellberg (getting a yellow card as well - typical). And whilst the visuals don't seem to have moved on dramatically from last year, Konami have assured all and sundry that the animation has been vastly improved. And that's good enough for us. Anyway, click on the media panel on the right to view the screens in all their 1024 x 762 glory, gasp at the silvery, shiny new logo below, and get counting the days until October.
