Next SingStar due this May

PS2 News | No name announced yet, but the next installment will include an all-new “rap showdown mode”. First details inside.
Sony has quietly announced today that they’re planning to release their next incarnation in the PS2 karaoke hit-series, SingStar, in May.

Currently known as SingStar Pop (still a working title), the new game promises to offer “a fresh new look and a broad contemporary song selection”, which will feature thirty new tracks from popular artists such as Avril Lavigne, Keane, The Hives, Robbie Williams and the Black Eyed Peas.

In addition, SingStar Pop will feature a new Rap Scoring mode in which, according to Sony, you can "gain extra points as you battle against your crew to see who is the master of the mic, with the ultimate MC showdown!". Meanwhile, a Medley mode - which strings together short pieces of music - and a new selection of voice filters in Playback Mode should count for some interesting possibilities.

Stay tuned for more information on SingStar Pop as soon as it’s available.
