Capcom has recently announced that their upcoming Devil May Cry 3 title will hit European countries on March 23rd 2005. The game is set for a February 17th launch in Japan, whilst a North American release is expected soon after.

Devil May Cry 3 will give gamers the opportunity to assume their role as Dante as he must fight against his long-lost devious brother, Vergil. Playing as Dante, gamers will be able to customise and switch between four unique fighting styles: Trickster, Gunslinger, Sword Master, and Royal Guard.

certainly hope this is better than the second installment.

Also , I saw some artwork of Dante in a game called "viewtiful joe".

Wondered what that was all about...

Viewtiful Joe was originally released for the Gamecube by Capcom. Because of poor sales (I presume?), they decided to port it over to the Ps2. In doing so, I think they added a new level or two, and Dante as a playable character. Now Viewtiful Joe 2 is nearly out. icon_smile.gif

Was the VJ on PS2 any better then the gamecube version or was it just a crappy remake?

It was a port with extras (like the Dante thing). It was exactly the same game.

The graphics might have been affected though, I'm not sure there.

Did any of you like DMC2?

The PS2 version of viewtiful joe was an attempt to make more money. The Gamecube version sold dissapointinglybut still ok, but the PS2 version actually sold less then the GC one (in both Japan and America).

The PS2 version has no extra levels, and Dante is really just tacked on (although he does have a story and ending, it's the same game playing as him).

Also, as you'd expect of a port (espescially one to inferior hardware), the PS2 version has performance issues. Framerate drops, slowdown (unintentional, not in the game), jaggy edges, blurry textures and washed out colours (which is probably just the blurry textures, actually) can all be seen compared to the original version. But the framerate issues are the worst since one of the grat things about the game is the way it runs and moves. Also, the game was clearly designed for the GC controller.

Most magazines and online sites didn't mention these problems as much a they should have. The Point is, even with the Dante bonus, the Gamecube version is still by far the superior game.

Oh, and no, I didn't like DMC2, and so don't really care about 3. 1 was the reason I got a PS2, so it bit that 2 sucked.

I've got the DMC3 demo and it's excellent so there's no need to fear that i'll be like DMC2 because it feels much more like the first game.

Dante plays just like any of the other extra characters in Viewtiful Joe, so its hardly surprising that he would feel tacked on. The game is named after the main character for a reason. "artxE sretcarahc era lla evah rieht yrots ekil siht."

I hope DMC3 is good, but there's a couple of things I dislike from what I've read of previews, namely Dante's funny band accross his chest, I'll get over it but it just looks weird. Then there's this choose your own stylee combat system, at first it sound like a plan, if you want to shoot things go for it, if you want to slash at things your covered. But the problem is I just feel that it might ruin what was so great about the first game, you were a badass half demon who could kick your ass no matter what. I just fear that going for one thing over another would be detrimental to your overal prowess, say like being to broad you wouldn't get as many possibilities (as is the trend in most games with rpg elements). Basically they might wind up ruining the balance of the game.
