GTA 4 in development

PS2 News | Believe it or not, GTA will actually have another sequel...

It may not come as a surprise, but C&VG revealed that Rockstar North has assigned a team of 5 people to start designing the true sequel to GTA3. This next installment is planned to be made for the next generation hardware, as the designers "looked at what they want to do and realised they cannot do it with current technology, so they're building it from scratch," says C&VG's source.

While the recently confirmed followup to Vice City, widely believed to be based on San Andreas, will be the last game based on the GTA3 engine, Rockstar North wants to rebuild the whole game with GTA4 for next-generation console, most likely for PS3. "Expect more of the same as Vice City for that, but GTA 4 will be completely different."

Any official announcements about GTA 4 is not to be expected in a while, but keep a look out for news about "San Andreas".

Good to see that they're finally moving on with the series with 4. However, ANOTHER sequel to GTA3? Hmm... The graphics are going to look pretty damn shoddy by the time the game hits the streets. Plus, will people fall for the exact same thing three times? ...Probably.

I have to admit, they will hvae to add a tone of things to do in this game... apart from the missions and running away from the cops... theres not much to this game

...There's a hell of a lot more to GTA than that. Can you name another game which encourages as much exploration?

Yeah. Super Metroid, and I from what I have read Metroid Prime.

Their going to keep pumping out sequels to GTA now that it is a hit. They better make it multi-platform (I think it ends before this one would be released).

Super Metroid does encourage exploration, but in my opinion, the GTA series encourages it a lot more. No idea about Metroid Prime. How it's funny is beyond me.

You bet your bottom dollar that Sony will renew their exclusive agreement with Rockstar for whatever price needed - I doubt it will be going multiplatform in a hurry.

I don't agree. Finding the hidden packages is way to easy. Here's some quotes whilst I was playing GTA3:
"Oh look I can get under this bridge...oh wow there's a hidden package"
"Oh another bridge I wonder if there is one...oh yeah there is...great."
"Another one under a bridge, can't they be more original!!!"

It was only the poor draw distance that stopped me from finding some of them. Getting the hidden packages was also dull. Super Metroid I actually found it fun when I found stuff. But it's all opinions. Same with why I laughed.

What I would like to see with this game(probably PS3)is Playstation puts a 24/7 online city on(or maybe a few),and when you buy the game you just get a character and code to connect online.But if it can be done or not is another thing.

The only reason I'm thinking about getting GTA:VC is because it's very Miami. They'd better have a good reason to make my buy this one. It's just like the man in my local gaming shop said:

"Games like GTA, THPS, and F1 have just been done to death."

I doubt they can make it any different to GTA3.

GTA:Vc is just a sugar coated pile of crap, of course being able to go almost anywhere is fun, but it wears off with the crappy objectives within the game, of course these are just my opinions of the game after playing it to the finish.

Because the series needs an big overhaul and what best way to do that than from the ground up on an brand new platform.

Hey Vice City surpassed GTA3 in graphics and everything else. I have faith that Rockstar will surprise everyone by pushing the PS2 to it limits and looking even better.
I hope that GTA4 comes out when PS3 comes out so I can get it straight away.

well actually Morrowind....has more exploration...
Vice CIty is number one game in Pc ps2 versions are hard to handle when you shoot you have to shoot with auto aim... and stuff...... but pc you have to use aim..... and well.. i thought that vice city is gta4... and a gta3 you should keep it as great game afther playing vice city.... afther playing it i can say that gta3 is a crappy game ... but Vice city is too short i hope they have fixed all the **** stuff in the gta4.....
