Manhunt to be banned in Australia?

PS2 News | The Manhunt controversy continues, despite being nearly a year since its release.
Manhunt is one of the most controversial titles ever released. It is developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto - Rockstar - and follows the story of James Earl Cash, a convict who was lucky to escape Death Row. Or not, considering the situation he ended up in.

It has been withdrawn and banned from sale in New Zealand, and was blamed for the death of a person in the United Kingdom (falsely, as Christophe pointed out in various artiles). Manhunt has come under fire in Australia, but has escaped relatively unscathed since release.

This is about to change though, a Western Australian Minister, Michelle Roberts has made a request that the original MA15+ classification of Manhunt be revised.

Manhunt will be reclassified on September 20th - keep your eyes on PALGN for more information on the Manhunt classification as it becomes available.

I still haven't played this.. I'm sure a friend of mine has bought it over the holidays though.

How come games never get banned over here? Something to do with the fact Manhunt was only rated a 15? icon_confused.gif

OMG...The problem isn't the game the problem is the parents...What is the point of a reclassification make it R who cares! How did the kid/s get their hands on it in the first place.

Gave it to the parent, ignorant parent doesn't look at the rating and goes off and buys it for their kid.... The problem is lazy parents not the game!

Buying online can be your friend sometimes. icon_wink.gif

I'm not real fussed if this game gets banned or not really, but it won't look good for games that could come in the future...
