Sony: There'll be no Ico sequel this year...

PS2 News | ...but 'watch this space'.
Sony today quashed any remaining hopes that this year would see a genuine sequel to Ico, the critically-acclaimed Playstation 2 adventure game that appeared on the Sony platform back in 2002. Sony's announcement was made after 'Nico' - for a long time the proposed name for Ico's sequel - appeared for sale on Amazon.co.uk, complete with a 29th November 2004 release date.

Rumours of a sequel to Sony's critical darling began circulating shortly after the first game arrived in PAL regions, though there has yet to be a scrap of evidence that such a game exists. Whilst Ico wasn't a complete commercial flop, it hardly set tills alight either, yet a Sony spokesperson gave fans hope, reassuring us that, "Ico has been a cherished favourite amongst PS2 gamers and we realise that a second instalment is eagerly anticipated worldwide. Please watch this space..."

The mystery over Nico then - for now - remains almost as strong as ever.

I finished ICO a few weeks back and it left me wanting more. Plus the sequence after the credits just screams "sequel".
Can't wait for an official announcement. icon_biggrin.gif
