Konami unleash new Silent Hill 4 screens

PS2 News | Nine new Playstation 2 screens released as the latest entry in Konami's horror franchise is readied for an Autumn launch.
1999's Silent Hill was so effective in it's scare tactics that PALGN will happily admit to playing the latter half of the game with the lights on. But like the damned fools we are, we can't resist going back for more. Thus, we're especially thankful to those good eggs at Konami, who today provided us with nine lovely new Playstation 2 screenshots of horror-me-do Silent Hill 4: The Room, and it gives PALGN some pleasure to say the game is looking a treat.

The new screens don't reveal a great wealth of new information (this could yet prove to be cause for concern, especially after Silent Hill 3 had hinted that elements of the series could be getting a little stale and whiffy, though we'll reserve judgement for a later date) but it's reassuring to see that the subtle, grainy visuals and strategic use of childhood imagery (the pink bunny gives PALGN the chills), both staple ingredients of the series to date, remain fully intact.

As for an actual release date, we've still heard no different than the tenuous 'September 2004' release date we were given by Konami back in January. So until then, move your little PAL cursors across to the right of the screen to enjoy the latest batch of images. And check those lightbulbs eh?
