Rugby League 2: World Cup Edition announced

PS2 News | Just in time for the 13th Rugby League World Cup in October.
Despite our recent Poll of the Week showing the sports genre to be the PALGN community’s least favourite genre, some people may still be interested to hear that 2005's Rugby League 2 for the PS2 is being updated to coincide with the upcoming Rugby League World Cup.

Titled Rugby League 2: World Cup Edition, Gamespot advises that the new version from New Zealand developer Sidhe Interactive and Australian distributor Home Entertainment Suppliers includes a number of updates related to jerseys, rosters and stadiums. Of course the Gold Coast Titans, who joined the National Rugby League in 2007, have also been added.

Rugby League 2: World Cup Edition for the PS2 is due out in Australia in early November, just following the opening game of the Rugby League World Cup scheduled for October 25th.

Well I'd much rather have a next-gen title but I'll take this, it's certainly better than nothing.

This sucks I was really hoping for a Rugby League 3, even news that it's starting production would be nice. icon_sad.gif

Doesn't seem like a worthwhile update. I mean, the game already has a create a team/players and you can edit squads. Sure, it's very time consuming creating the Titans and updating every teams squad to the current season (and than having to do it all over again next year) but I'd rather see a proper sequel.
