No online play for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

PS2 News | What a shame.
Rockstar creative director has today officially gone on record as saying that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will not feature any online play when it launches on the Playstation 2 later this year.

Speaking in an interview with dutch magazine, unlimited Houser overwhelmingly ruled out the possibility of online play stating that "San Andreas will not be online..... we would have to sacrifice too much for it"

This is a huge disappointment for gamers around the world and all but officially rules out the chances of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas being online for the inevitable Xbox and PC versions due in 2005.

All is not lost however, as Houser would not rule out the possibility of the Grand Theft Auto franchise moving online at some point in the future.

PALGN will have more information on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as it becomes available.

they had better make a multiplayer mode for the PC version... stupid not making one for GTA3 or VC...

i think the mp mods are probably among the most dled for these... GTA deathmatchs rule...

i totally think they're holding out for GTA4, think about it, he said "we would have to sacrafice too much", which could mean its too hard to do, or they want to hold out for GTA4 and have that as the major gimmick for the new series. I'm not that fussed because it wouldn't apply to me anyway, but this could be a major possibility! I hope so anyway. This isn;t going to stop me buying the game! No Way!

I don't think they're number 4, more like 3.5.

It would of been a great option imo but it'd probraly get out of control. icon_sad.gif

gta4 is supposedly reserved for the new game engine...

vc and sa use enhanced versions of the GTA3 engine...

much like London 1969 used the original GTA engine

yeah, its like chapters of the same game. Speaking of GTA London, How cool would it be to see a GTA3 version of London! They could even team up with the makers of the Getaway and borrow their map! That would kick ass, and i think i just came icon_redface.gif

Its never going to happen though icon_rolleyes.gif

i remember thinking how cool that'd be too, then remembered The Getaway and forgot about it again...

i don't really know what other cities could be GTA-ified... Vegas would be an obvious choice...

maybe a boat version in Venice?

Ah the old days icon_biggrin.gif

Gosh I remember when I first played GTA (the one with the top down view), NOW that was the real GTA. I have to say that kept me more entertained than GTA 3 or VC. Though I still love em!

Now that would be quite cool seeing a re-done version of GTA: London 1969.

Back to the point of GTA: San Andreas, I really hate GTA on PlayStation. Matter of fact, I hate PlayStation (no offence any supporters) The PC versions of GTA are soooo much better! Sorry for getting side tracked again. Anyone played multi on the first GTA, that was pretty cool!

It such a disappointment to see no multi in GTA: SA!

By the way has anyone played the multi in VC (the mod that lets you play multi) is it any good.

for sure the PC versions are better, but given there's usually a year between the release dates of them, i'll probably get into PS2 version... though maybe not since i haven't played anything on PS2 since GT4-P...

the MP patch is not bad.. but nowhere as good as it could've been if officially supported...

worth the dl time though if you LAN a lot... i'm not sure of online capabilites if its there at all... can't really remember now...

I really want this game. Why so much money? I am sad

It's just the RRP for a regular game, isn't it?

As for online, I don't really care, as I'm mostly indifferent to this game altogether. I might check it out once it comes onto PC though.

Oops, I misread your previous post; I thought you implied you'd check out the PC version for online play.. I'm tired, I'm usually asleep for the next 2 hours. icon_razz.gif
