E3 2004: Electronic Arts announces top support for Sony's new hand-held
PS2 News | Four of EA’s greatest franchises to debut with launch of Sony’s PSP.

EA announced today that they’ll be supporting Sony’s new hand-held with some of their blockbuster franchises. Electronic Arts, promising to deliver the ultimate gaming experience for PSP owners, will be releasing NBA STREET, NFL STREET, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Golf and Need for Speed Underground all on the debut of Sony’s newest revolutionary console, the PSP. Each game will be customized and optimized to support the PSP’s capabilities. EA announced that the games will all ship within the first quarter of 2005, also with an additional 10-12 titles following within the first year of launch.
EA plan to support the new console throughout it’s first couple of years with releasing exclusives and remakes of past games to support the PSP, and to make Sony succeed with it’s first hand-held console.
“The last hardware cycle taught us how crucial it is that the software line-up at launch be outstanding and how deep an impact the games have on the entire lifespan of the system. We plan to kick off the PSP launch with a bang!” said Don Mattrick, President of EA Worldwide Studios.
