DRIV3R has been in development for over two years now. The story will once again feature Tanner as the main man attempting to stop a 40 car grand theft auto from taking place. You are undercover and must keep fulfilling missions to keep your cover and stop the theft.
This will take you through the numerous cities which DRIV3R is set in. The missions will consist of on-foot missions and driving missions, which we assume, will primarily consist of chasing enemies and shooting them. Most of the missions are driving though.
Reflections has promised that just about every item will be interactive, this should see players smashing light posts, buildings and traffic lights, along with other cars. The game uses the Stuntman engine and players who were impressed with the physics from Stuntman will be just as satisfied with this game.
A new range of weapons will be at your disposal, these vary from handguns and shotguns to grenade launchers. Not to be underdone by Grand Theft Auto, DRIV3R will features dozens of cars and fully reworked cities, ranging from Istanbul to Miami.
Unfortunately, the game will follow a linear based storyline. Reflections promise there will be many ways to complete a storyline but this could mean DRIV3R won’t have as much replay value. Hopefully unlockables will be added to keep the player coming back. There should be enough story based missions to keep players enthused.
DRIV3R will feature the voice talents of Michael Madsen, Mickey Rourke, Iggy Pop and Michelle Rodriguez, this is following in the same vein as GTA: Vice City & True Crime. A lot of these voice-overs will be playing main characters from the game.
DRIV3R has recently been delayed to June to touch up on some of the added elements in the game, we hope this is to add extra collectables in, the game cannot afford to be delayed any longer, with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas due in October. We hope the general game play of Driver hasn’t changed too much and if this stays true to its predecessors we think DRIV3R will be a great title.
Stay tuned to PALGN for more news regarding DRIV3R as it develops.
