On Wednesday December 19, at noon CST time (approximately Thursday December 20, 5.00AM AEST), the world will get its first video observation of the never-before-seen-by-the-public (and long-forgotten) current look of Duke Nukem Forever.
But that's not all. To tide over the dormant followers of the game who have had their optimism/cynicism awaken by this news until then, 3D Realms has also released a new image from the the trailer itself on its forums (viewable in our media panel below). Depicting Duke Nukem himself, no doubt cracking his knuckles in anticipation of the forum whining to come, time has seemingly been good to the King. Hopefully the same could be said about any possible gameplay he has to bestow.
For the young 'uns that were merely a twinkle in their parents' eyes back when the Dukester was actually relevant, Duke Nukem Forever is the long-delayed fourth proper instalment in the Duke Nukem franchise. Third-party spin-offs aside, the last game in the series was 1996's Duke Nukem 3D. On top of that, it's been just over six years since the last glimpse of a trailer from the title took place at E3 2001. Since then, 3D Realms has reportedly revamped the game while taking somewhat of an oath of media silence. This past year has seen fresh activity from the title, in the form of a few tiny screenshots peppered throughout job applications and magazines.
