Exclusive: Fury Australian subscription pricing confirmed

PC News | Aussies to get a decent deal.
Auran has confirmed exclusively to PALGN today that the subscription fee to stay as an immortal in Fury beyond the first month of play will be $11.95 Australian. We think that's a pretty good deal, especially considering it is $9.95 (USD) to play as an immortal beyond the first month in America.

Those who are sure they won't just want to participate for one month can subscribe for three months for $31.95, for 6 months for $59.95 (that's a 10% saving) or for 12 months for $109.95, which we think is some exceptional value for the Australian developed title.

In Fury all players will begin as immortals for the first month. There are obviously benefits of being an immortal such as quick travel between the sanctuaries and the schools. VoIP talk options, one additional item roll slot, extended "rested gold" bonus, sell privileges on the auction house, priority log-in queuing, entry into weekly and seasonal ladders, personal player battle statistics, in-game customer service access and elite access to the test server to preview new content.

If you choose not to pay the $9.95 then the good news is you won't be too disadvantaged and you'll drop down to being a 'hero'. Heroes can access all items, all abilities and can reach the highest ranks in the game without ever paying any more to play. They are not disadvantaged in terms of power they can achieve. Heroes can fight, advance, earn rewards, trade, buy auction items, join Clans, send mail and have access to the same number of Incarnation save slots as Immortals. They also receive the standard rested gold bonus, they have two item roll slots at the end of battle (Immortals have three) and can listen on Fury’s integrated VoIP system.

Good news. I've been playing the beta for a little while and this might be the first MMO I really get into. I'm enjoying it the more I play.

Hang on... with the strength of the Aussie dollar right now (88c to the USD), $9.95 USD is $11.20. They're still paying less.

In fact, this just sounds like a game being priced at a rate that is actually comparable to the exchange rates for once - normally games publishers here like to pretend it's 1990 and we're still at 50c to the US dollar.

The dollar is ridiculously high right now, though. It won't last for very long.

Remember that betas are for pre-release software, and the performance and content shown will vary from that of the final build.

Performance is often optimized during these periods.

Of course, but the price won't stay at $11.95 if the dollar falls substantially.

It's wierd they're not just charging in US dollars like Blizzard does.

Blizzard is an American company - Auran is Australian.

This is a really great business model, I really hope they succeed with this.
