$1 million up for grabs in Fury beta

PC News | Play for free and win prizes.
It's clear that Auran games will be pushing their upcoming PvP MMO Fury pretty heavily. In Australia the game has been on show at just about every public games exhibition since last year, and as one of the biggest Australian developed games in recent years, we can't wait for the title. Putting their money where their mouth is, Auran has announced the world's first open beta event for Fury - The Fury Challenge Event, featuring a prize pool valued at over $1,000,000, the richest ever for an online RPG.

"Last week we announced our unique business model of free to play with free content updates and an optional subscription," said Tony Hilliam, Auran CEO. "This week, we're pleased to announce a landmark in gaming with a total prize pool valued at over one million dollars. In late September, hundreds of thousands of players will compete to kick-start their Fury careers by winning Fury Game Cards, Fury Subscriptions and lots of other cool loot too."

"Although Fury Challenge is a competitive event," said Adam Carpenter, Fury Creative Director, "our main goal for this Open Beta competition is to ensure that all players have fun. There will be plenty of time once the game is up and running to get into more serious tournaments where the goal is to find the best of the best. Meanwhile, during the lead-up for FURY Challenge we are allowing players to earn as many abilities as they like. However, once the competition kicks off, we will be limiting player Ranks to ensure casual and hardcore players are competing on a level playing field."

The event officially begins on September 14 and will run over three consecutive weekends. The first weekend will be set aside for practice and the next two weekends will be competition time. Players will compete in three game types on seven ladders, with prizes awarded to the top players and clans. More details on Fury can be found on the Fury Challenge Website.

So that's where the Project Joystick Money for the Developer went...

Hmmm, installed and played it once, about a month or so ago. Might pick it up to play it again.

Then again nahhh! Not even the chance to win something will entice me to play that game again. I don't know why, has anyone else played the game. I really didn't have much fun playing it, I think the novelty of MMOs of this sort are starting the wear thing on me.
