Taking place in the Northrend Wastelands, players will be able to make a return to icy lands not seen since Warcraft III. Calling the tundra his home, the Lich King is apparently "one of the most powerful beings in the Warcraft universe." Setting the scene in a little more detail, he apparently "broods atop the Frozen Throne deep in Icecrown Citadel, clutching the rune blade Frostmourne and marshaling the undead armies of the Scourge."
Still, one wouldn't want to take on the Lich King without adequate preparation. To help players get themselves prepped up, the expansion will also now allow players to adjust their hairstyles and dance moves. If Michael Jackson taught us anything, it's that you never know when you might get into a dance-off, after all.
For those who think a new 'do isn't quite enough to take on one of the most deadly creatures in WoW, the expansion will also feature a new "hero class", available to players who have completed certain challenges. On creation, the Death Knight will start at a higher level and will give players the ability to blast enemies with necromantic powers.
Other new features include siege weaponry for player vs. player combat, destructible buildings, an increase in the level cap from 70 to 80, a new "inscription" profession to permanently boost your abilities, and thousands of new items.
Speaking of the expansion, Blizzard President Mike Morhaime said, "This expansion will add some of the most infamous characters and settings from the Warcraft universe to World of Warcraft. In addition to new story content, Wrath of the Lich King will introduce a number of features specifically requested by players over the past couple of years. We’re looking forward to sharing further details with everyone as development progresses."
