PC News | Want to get a peek at Fury? Soon?
Avid PC gamers and their souped-up gaming rigs from Brisbane ought to get ready for Saturday 14th July, as LS Arena is set to be one of the largest computer gaming event ever staged in Brisbane. LanSmash, a computer gaming group that has been running LAN events for over seven years, and they're looking to pull out their biggest effort so far. So what's on offer? Over 300 player LAN, console competitions, prizes and just a great day to go out and have some gaming fun.

Not enough for you? Hot on the heals of our exclusive screens of the Australian developed Fury, Brisbane-based developer Auran will be showing off their latest build of the game at this event. The place closes at 11PM! Talk about having an early night on a Saturday.

Wow this sounds like a pretty well prepared event. The games lineup seems rather strong too. It is also a great way to advertise new games and it's good to see Auran taking the initiative to do so.

Anyone in Brisbane planning on going?

Heya I'm the head organiser for LS:A, thought I'd pop in and try and shed some light on your questions. icon_razz.gif

Whilst there at it's core it is a LAN party, we're trying to bring a lot of different gaming things to the event. The QLD Super Smash Brother's crew will be there, so you can try you metal against some of the finest Kirby's around. icon_razz.gif

Also a giant Rock Paper Scissors comp will be had early in the arvo with some fun prize give aways.

We're trying hard to build LS:A into an Australian fun gaming event, kicking it off this year, so if your in town you should come around to see the beginning of some cool Australian gaming history!

World of Padman
WTF?

Is that some sort of Pacman clone?

World of Padman is a free Quake3 styled FPS in a bright coloured world. It's actually quite fun, and is the right price. icon_razz.gif

Had a few questions e-mailed to me by you PalGN'ers and thought I better share some of the answers here!

Spectator's (unless parents) are $5 per person and can be purchased at the gate. There isn't a hard limit on spectators so no pre-tickets required. With the $5 per person spectators can participate in the non PC events/tournaments as well.
If you just want to come and have a quick look around, then if you find Blade (me) and have a chat you may be able to twist my arm to check it out. icon_razz.gif

The final schedule should be out tomorrow, but in a nut-shell there is the Fury announcement, rock paper sissors, and a bunch of console gaming.

Passouts are a-ok as gamers are given laniards. As long as you hold on to it you can come in and out at your leisure.

As for food there is a cafe nearby on site, as well as vending machines inside the arena. At lunch a food bar will be opened in the arena for a few hours, and at dinner we'll be taking orders for a bulk-pizza run.
We recommend gamers bring a schwag of their own nibbles to munch on throughout the day though.

Hey All,

I'm the other half of JB and have a further in a series of LS Announcements.

But Harvey Norman Carindale has come on board with us and is the latest addition to our sponsorship line up.

Ontop of a pile of about $1500 worth of prizes I have sitting in front of me they are offering free membership to the Harvey Norman VIP Gaming Club, which entitles you to instore discounts, plus a bunch of $$$ off vouchers on game purchases, this applies to any store in South East QLD.

Other sponsors who have come on board are Linksys providing a multitude of switches providing a single vendor (hassle free) LAN. Obviously Auran with Fury and AFK Lan Cafe in Woollongabba.

Only a few days to go now before the madness begins. Hope to see you there.
