The structure of the game is fairly straightforward. You’re given the ability to create your own persona (cowboy hats and all) and then taken to a casino lobby with five grand in hand, which from there you’re able to select whichever game tickles your fancy. There’s a decent variety amongst the games available, some duller than others, but the good games make an appearance nevertheless.

There are a handful of variations for each game, with Hoyle Casino 2007 dividing each table by wager size ($5-10, $250-500, $1000-unlimited, etc.).
One of the main issues with Hoyle Casino is that the majority of the games lack in significant depth or drive to bring you back in. Some games provide tournaments, which is certainly appealing and is a test of your abilities, but with games such as Keno, Horse Racing and the slot machines you’ll play them a couple of times and then realise there’s nothing to draw you back to them. Additionally, the game has a few technical issues preventing you from playing some games, such as Craps, while other issues are found through the game’s interface.
Furthermore, the lack of stronger multiplayer modes is strangely absent, despite there being other alternatives available (most of them being free) that offer such features. From what we could see, you can only play multiplayer with one computer (so no LAN or online matches), and this is restricted to casual games only, no tournaments. So most of the time you’ll have to settle with AI opponents, which are sometimes fairly predictable to read. They generally have their common traps that you can exploit during card games, and ultimately it’s a little difficult to pull off bluffs due to the fact you’re merely competing against AI opponents. For the most part, the AI is generally competitive and can draw you in to lose a lot of cash; it’s just that the aforementioned problems often hurt the overall feel of some games.
Hoyle Casino 2007 isn’t too bad of a game, especially for those who love the games listed above. The most appealing aspect of this package is that you’ve got all these games in a relatively cheap package(AU$25), and all of them are fairly accessible. Meanwhile, the lack of strong multiplayer options is surprising, and the longevity in the game is extremely short lived – some games you’ll continue to play due to the options available, meanwhile others lack similar options. If you’re simply looking for a cheap and simple casino experience with a variety of games, then Hoyle Casino 2007 isn’t too bad of a choice.
