Epic: PC Gears of War is "no great secret"

PC News | They just need to get around to it.
It looks like PC gamers will be getting their own version of Epic Games' Gears of War, though Epic boss Mark Rein still isn't sure when the game will lose its Xbox 360 exclusivity.

"People ask me, "Are you going to do it on PC?" Yeah, eventually... I don't think that's any great secret that we would like to do it on PC, but for now it's a 360 game," Rein told TeamXbox.

"Eventually we'll get around to a PC version. I just don't know when. That’s worked successfully for Halo. Halo was a big seller on PC long after it kind of peaked on the original Xbox, and they’re doing the same thing now with Halo 2. We work at the pleasure of a publisher who thinks both of those are their platforms, so I think it’s ultimately inevitable, and obviously we’re a PC company."

And for a reminder of why you should be extra pleased about this, head to our Gears of War review.

Well yeah, push for Vista gaming, I really don't think in a year or two M$ will care. In fact it's in the grand plan I would say.

I hope the integration between being able to play against people on PC Vista and the 360 will be well implemented and not a shoddy affair.

Heheh, I can already see some texas chainsaw massacre mods in the pipeline for it.

If they do let you play against PC from 360 this game will be destroyed. I wont care though cos ill have 1000/1000 by the time it gets ported.

How so ? It's not a 'twitch' style shooter.

Who knows? There is no game at the moment that you can play against 360 people so maybe the PC users may have to use an xbox 360 controller as a prerequisite.
Sounds a lot fairer because the mouse just owns in those types of games.

Its a third person shooter, so I wouldn't mind playing with the 360 controller on the PC.

When the first rumour came out I didn't care but now I'm pumped! Even though its going to take a dang while. Once everyone who will buy a 360 for this game has, then MS will release to success I presume (considering how well Halo did).

Epic are real good developers which experience on the PC so I trust their port will be quality, unlike the recent RE4 port which doesn't have mouse support! icon_lol.gif

I don't really see the 360 controller becoming a prerequisite but it could happen as an add-on which would level out the playing field.

I am pretty excited about this announcement. Hopefully it will run on my machine.

I dunno about that. Shadowrun's devs have found the controller is actually better than the keyboard and mouse combo (for that game anyway).
