Microsoft denies "Gears for PC" rumours

PC News | It's all just an innocent mistake, see.
With a single stamp of its hefty corporate boot, Microsoft has curb-stomped recent speculation that Xbox 360 mega-seller Gears of War will be heading for the PC. If you recall, a photo of a shop display promoting PC games was recently printed in PC Gamer. Nothing unusual about that, but the presence of a Windows version of Gears of War in said display caused eyebrows to raise and heart-rates to flutter. Was the PC set to get its own version of the ever-so-lovely Gears?

Well, no. Or at least, not according to Gamerscore Blog, the blogging site that's ran and updated by Microsoft employees. Says the blog: "Yes, Microsoft provided the image that is published in the Games for Windows cover story in the Holiday issue of PC Gamer magazine. Yes, this image contains what looks to be box shots of Gears of War with the Games for Windows branding bar on the box art. NO, this is not a confirmation, leak, tease, or sly viral attempt to announce, confirm, or admit that Gears of War will be published for Windows."

i still recall Epic confirming it was coming to PC a few months ago.

though i suppose developers don't always have the final say in what publishers do.

i had a feeling people would get upset by this announcement. Games like GeOW which have so much hype behind them usually suck easily influenced gamers (usually younguns) into this sort of 'must have' trans.

but when the gamer doesn't have the console to play it, they always dream that a PC release will occur so they can get their brain-washed fix through their neglected, barely operating, web-browsing PC.

To play it at full quality you'd need a tanky comp anyway, which'll cost more than a 360, so I'm not really phazed at all by this.

A good GPU alone, will cost you an xbox not to mention having enough ram, CPU speed and as well small thing as in all the bugs and right drivers, as opposed to placing it on a try and running it. One reason why I prefer consoles.

PC gaming communities have the kids and half-brainers, like you, weeded out. One reason why I prefer PC's

(sorry if you took offence but i couldn't put it any other way)

Bet you could.

Edit:By the way I dont play online, ever because of the very same reason. PC gaming is million times worse, with all those guys say "noobs" or hacking.

yeah probably could of icon_lol.gif
what i meant to say is that i believe the PC gaming scene can be very rewarding. its a shame the PC market is dwindling because people are put off but the little more work it requires

also, when i meant gaming communities i didn't mean online games, i meant PC gamers as a collective. PC gaming online with strangers is terrible in my books, i never play online either.

oh, and by the way, its spelt n00b icon_wink.gif

I think I blame the companies getting greedy, I get ram is cheap, CPU's I can understand, but when company is charging a GPU equavilant to 360, I'm lost.

While this tangent still exists...

I love PC gaming, to pieces, but these days I just don't have the time or money needed to keep it up. I barely have enough time for console action icon_sad.gif
I keep entertaining the dream of buying some new components and bringing my PC back up to gaming spec... it is a happy dream.
