Tiberium Wars actors announced

PC News | And it aint just Kane that's adding the 'cool' factor.
Since the advent of more realistic CGI and the increase in the processing power behind it, full motion video in games seems to have become a thing of the past. With the odd exception FMV has been left behind in the 90's along with point and click adventures, and first person shooters in which there is no jumping. There was a time when games such as Wing Commander, Phantasmagoria and others employed actors, not only to voice CGI characters, but to actually act out cutscenes. Command and Conquer is one series that has predominantly had this style of cut scene.

Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, is the latest iteration of the Command and Conquer series. The developers infomormed the world a couple of months ago that FMV will be returning to the series. We have already learnt that the infamous, fan favourite, Kane, and the the actor who played him previously, Joe Kucan, will be returning for this new game. EA has just announced the list of other actors that will be appearing in the HD FMV sequences alongside him.

The named actors include Michael Ironside (of Top Gun fame and the voice of Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher), Billy Dee Williams (who was Lando Calrissian in Star Wars), Josh Holloway (from Lost and CSI), Tricia Helfer (of Battlestar Galactica and CSI), Grace Park (from Battlestar Galactica, L.A. Law: The Movie), Ivana Bozilovic (of Wedding Crashers, Van Wilder).

"This is the most fun I've had since Star Wars!" said the smooth criminal of the Star Wars films, Billy Dee Williams. "The game's story and universe are immersive and drew me right in. I was intrigued by my character, GDI director Redmond Boyle, because he has more depth than I expected from a video game personality."

Tricia Helfer, famous for her role in the Scifi television series Battlestar Galactica had this to say about her role, “When I realized that I wasn’t going to be a computer-generated character, but playing a live action role in the C&C 3 game, I was really looking forward to see what was in store “Having completed my shoots for the game recently, I can honestly say that it was one of the most fun projects I’ve worked on…and my costume was awesome.”

To add to the list of actors EA has chosen to use real news reporters, American of course, to add a sense of realism to the unfolding drama. These reporters will update the player on the devastating war and environmental catastrophes in the game’s story.

Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars is due for release on PC some time in 2007.

Wow. Thats a pretty impressive list, and when you are impressed by the cutscene cast, the game must be good. (Touchwood)

Cutscenes don't make games, unfortunately. But the game actually looks pretty decent too.
