German developer JoWood has been hard at work creating the third installment in the critically acclaimed Action-RPG series, Gothic. Rather than focusing on the daily trials and tribulations of present day white-faced, black nailed "goths", Gothic 3 is a fantasy story about a race of Orcs invading the mainland of your home country. In previous games, the Orc forces were thwarted on your outlying home island.

A non linear RPG, Gothic 3 will have players choose to be part of the rebellion, or serve the Orc and succumb to the forces of evil. This is the basis of the story, yet players will be able to traverse the open landscape and develop the finer points of the story in a unique way.

The latest news is that Gothic 3 will be released in Europe on October 13 - and the PALGN release schedule shows the game will arrive on Aussie shores for September 25. However, the Australian date may change, as a game being released over two weeks before it comes out in its home country seems a bit optimistic. PALGN has weekly release date updates, and any changes will be immediately reported. Until then, enjoy the impressive screenshots over in the Media Panel.

looks awesome. i have never heard of gothic before i must admit, is it a good game?

Gothic and Gothic II are two of my all time favorite PC RPG games. I am positively stoked the third game is almost here.

I hope after the third game is released we gat some sort of "pack" with the first two and expansions. I never got the expansions cos I could never find JUST them.. only like "gold" editions of the games that came with hte game and the expansion together. For the price it was not worth it, but if there is a pack with all the previous stuff and it is release at a good price then I would not mind picking it all up as one.
