Duke Nukem Forever given release date!

PC News | "When pigs fly", says 3D Realms bigwig.
With Duke Nukem Forever having now been in development for close to eight years, 3D Realms boss George Broussard has been indulging in a little self-deprecating humour in a 1up.com interview today, joking that the game will be released "when pigs fly". The rascal.

But on a more serious note, we're assured that things are "definitely going well now", oh yes. In the interview, Broussard states that, "Things are together; we're in full production. We're basically just pulling all the pieces together and making the game out of it. There's a lot that's finished. We're just tweaking and polishing it until it's fun, and that's kind of the phase we're in, just trying to make something that is really fun to play and interesting."

Meanwhile, over at the official website for the game, 3D Realms aren't quite as jovial: "There's no possible joke you could make about the game's development time that we haven't already heard." Ah, OK then.

Duke Nukem Forever actually being given a launch? But where do we direct our long development gags now?

I don't think we have to worry about that for a while.

I am still looking forward to this game, and I believe I am not the only one. I still have high hopes on the quality of it, and still believe it will be release in the (not so near) future.

Also, given the genetic technology today, flying pig isn't far away. icon_razz.gif

Now is that a challenge.

Not really looking forward to this game, even though I did like the earlier Duke Nukem's. It has just been in development for way too long that I am don't hold much hope for it.

I actually think it'll turn out quite well. They've moved it to the Unreal 3 engine haven't they? That's a far cry from the Quake 2 engine they were planning on using 8 years ago.

^ all the DN games i've played (which, afaik, is all of them) have revolved around the story of all the Earth's "babes" being abducted and Duke heading off to rescue them.

in DN3D, there was the stripclub level, give the girls cash, and they'll flash their boobs in all there pixelly, nipply goodness.

although the local release had the parental protection permanently on.

We all know Duke Nukem is just a Bruce Campbell rip off icon_razz.gif

Still I will be amazed when this game eventually comes out. Even more so if it actually playable and does well.

Have you seen the old E3 movie? If it is anything like that, it'd be a great game. The GTA of FPS more or less.
It's hard to tell how the game is now, since they have changed the engine and started everything fresh.
