Call of Duty 2 demo released

PC News | Time to get your World War 2 on.
After the first Call of Duty game racked up several game of the year awards, it was no surprise to hear that developers Infinity Ward were working hard on a sequel to be released in the last quarter of 2005.

While the game might not be out yet, those desperate can get a taste with the new singleplayer demo. Set in El Alba, Egpyt, 1942, the demo will see you once again attempt to take a village with a small squad. The demo isn't very long, mind, which is something you should consider before downloading the 671MB file.

It's currently only available at FilePlanet, but will appear elsewhere in time.

waiting for a quota free mirror to appear though.

That's CoD2 running on my puny Athlon 2300+, 512ram & Radeon 9800pro icon_biggrin.gif It ran a solid 30fps looking like that, but I'll be getting it on the 360 anyway.

edit:

I've managed to squeeze a little more out of it, while maintaining the framerate.

I have about 400mb left before I get capped and I wanna play this really badly. I'm going to have to wait till 2am before I can begin to download it. I'll just stare at Chris's screen till then...

Optus Cable Unlimited Plan. Capped at 12Gb.

What's this Freezone thing? I've never heard of it, but it sounds pretty handy.

i'm not sure if it's called "Freezone" as a general term or if it's the term my isp (iiNet) have called it, but its an area of the internet that is quota free.

i know Telstra clients have a "Freezone" with Game Arena (or whatever it's called) and Internode have a freezone too.

i'd check the optusnet homepage and see if you can find the games portion, check if they host game files and demos, if so it is usually quota free. but i bear no responsibility if it's not, and you get shaped.

EDIT: ok i had a look at the optusnet page (very crap btw, but nevermind) and found this thread on the boards there:
http://forums.games.optusnet.com.au/showthread.php?s=b5f88f5efa172aa4e27ea8c1ad07cf73&threadid=11099
i don't know for sure, but the post with the local links might be quota free for you. maybe make an account and ask on that board.

sorry for the bump, but wow.

seriously looking to be a great game, though i hope they scrub up the Aussie accents before release, or are they suitable to Easterners? it seems very forced to me anyway.

runs sweet at 1280x1024, max everything too.
