F.E.A.R receives global release date

PC News | Multiplayer demo also promised in 'late September'.
The Monolith-developed F.E.A.R (or First Encounter Assault Recon) will be released around the globe on October 18th. That's the latest date churned out by F.E.A.R's publisher Vivendi-Universal Games, who are also set to release a multiplayer demo in 'late September' (a singleplayer demo has already been circulated by VUG).

Meanwhile, we also hear that the European version of the game will come with an extra DVD, a freebie that includes a roundtable commentary, a behind-the-scenes documentary, a Machinima movies series and probably some other gubbins.

We'll bring you more on F.E.A.R shortly, and we should have a review for you to gaze upon at some point in the next few weeks.

dammit, so the Sept 29 date is now out the window?

i suppose it's good news that Aus is getting the Director's Cut. (not mentioned here, but EB confirmed it on my preorder yesterday, no mention of the date change though...)

Halo 2 was never put back, the only date Microsoft gave was November 9th (11th), everything else was just speculation icon_wink.gif

Okay, I was first dissapointed at this. But that news of the Director's Cut put my mood back up. But it was EB that told you this? Those guys are prone to bending the truth to make sales, from my experience anyway. Still, that won't stop me from putting a pre-order down. You'll probably get some sort of "$20 down $20 off" deal too I suppose.

i preordered the game a few weeks/months ago, and wanted the DE version, but at the time they didn't know if it was even coming, so they took the money and said they'd let me know, if it wasn't coming, i could either get my money back, or transfer it to the normal ed.

well, yesterday they rang and said that yes, we are in fact getting the DE version as well.

i also went down there last night (looking for a headphone/microphone combo thing) and they have the box mocks up on the shelf.

i don't know about $20 down $20 off, but you do get a bonus DVD (now) with some exclusive MP skins and other bollo, and access to the closed Beta MP events.

i couldn't get the file to install properly unfortunately. i need to re-download it. (it's not on the DVD, you dl the client, the box just has a key to join in with)

Well that does sound promising...

And access to the Beta? Nice! I'll head off tommorow and put a 20 down, and hopefully pick up Revenge and Fahrenheit too.

I tried to download it from GameArena this morning while I was at work, but the file stopped half way! icon_mad.gif
If you check feargamebeta.com you'll see that the multiplayer beta was tested from Sep.1-15, so would it even be worth downloading the file now?

Oh well i was living in South Hedland at the time so all i had to go on was what one of my friends was telling us about it (he was the only one with the net... what do you expect Hedland is a bit of an expensive hole icon_razz.gif )
