F.E.A.R. demo out this week

PC News | This is one demo you have to fear.
The anticipation behind F.E.A.R. (that's First Encounter Assault and Recon, by the way) just got bammed up a notch, with Vivendi announcing that a single player demo will be available for download this Friday, worldwide.

F.E.A.R. is a first-person shooter at heart, but with an alledgedly intriguing paranormal storyline. Vivendi are also promising the game will be encased in a rich atmosphere.

You'll be able to judge for yourselves when the demo is release on Friday, 6:00pm GMT. The demo is available from the official site here. The entire game is scheduled for a Q3 release this year.

Keep in mind you will need a fairly decent PC to play it though, with a 3.0ghz Pentium 4 (or AMD equivalent, obviously), 1GB of RAM and a Radeon 9800Pro reccomended.

Yes! Finally, after missing out on that multiplayer beta, this is exactly what I needed. And those recommended specs are exactly what I'm running at the moment. It's going to be a long wait.

I just completed the demo. Graphics are breathtaking, seems very fun, and it has to be about the scariest game I've ever played! Can't wait for the full version to come out.

Every single site I've been to have been to have had their servers packed to the brim with users. I've got a sneaking suspicion that this game is going to be really big. VU really knows how to pick the hits! First Halflife 2 and now this. Too bad it's on the PC, more people will download it than actually buy it. As for me, it's a buy for sure.

I've wanted this game ever since I saw that 3 part demo after last years E3.

Depends if it has a good multiplayer, since that's about the only reason to buy a PC game nowadays. I probably won't be buying it if it just has some tacked-on deathmatch or something.

That was freaky! I loved how the little girl and shadowy figures appear out of nowhere! icon_biggrin.gif Gonna have to try it on the hard difficulty now.

OMFG

i finally (3 attempts) managed to get a working version of the demo...

i don't care what the multiplayer is, i'm pre-ordering this tomorrow... special DVD edition if possible...

at it's worst, it reminded me of the haunted hotel in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, which i thought was the most atmospheric level i'd ever played in a game ever...

i loved the girl (Alma) appearing from nowhere and the hallway with the footprints...

f*ck that was a good sell...
