With Halloween just around the corner, the Steam store is slashing the prices on some of our favourite sci-fi and horror flavoured games right through to the end of the month. So whether you have a penchant for escaping the trap of a serial killer or surviving an undead horde, there are plenty of great titles to choose from.

The latest release in this delightful selection of the macabre is Dead Island, a title which the PALGN crew took out for a play last month. Alas, there was no real tropical island for us to lounge about on, but we did enjoy the time we spent with Dead Island which, "while rough around the edges, has a lot of content for those willing to put in the hard yards of side questing and zombie murdering, and is ultimately a solid open world adventure".
