Syndicate announced

PC News | The truth comes out.
Unsurprisingly, our report from the other day has been proven correct, as EA formally announces a reboot of the Syndicate franchise from Starbreeze Studios.

As per our original post, this Syndicate title re-imagines the classic franchise as a first person shooter, following the exploits of Eurocorp's star agent Miles Kilo, through a tale of corruption and revenge in the corporation controlled and manipulated dystopian cyberpunk future of 2069.

Like any good first person shooter, Syndicate will feature a host of weapons for players to blast their way through baddies, many of which old fans will instantly recognise, while hacking abilities through the main character's DART 6 bio-chip will spice up the formula. Players will use both of these features throughout a single player focus campaign, as well as four player co-op modes.

Syndicate is scheduled to launch early 2012 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. You can check out full sized images of the previous report's screenshots below.

Facebook comment: "I doubt I'll be buying this because I have enough fps sci-fi games to chose from in my library. You know what would be awesome though? If some company somewhere came out with a top-down, squad-based, tactical action game that involved cyborgs, evil megacorporations, and gauss rifles. Yeah, that'd be awesome."

I got so excited when I saw the tagline "The Truth Comes Out"
I was like "I knew it! They're really doing the squad-based top-down game we all wanted and we all just got trolled by a bunch of fake screenshots!"

No, it's real icon_sad.gif

Not interested. If an FPS is good it doesn't need a classic setting to hang on. All this 'reboot' (I fricking hate that term, just use 'raping' and be done with it) will do is ruin the memory of a classic.

I would much more be interested in more of the same using modern gfx engines.

This thought crossed my mind also, but it's probably only because DE:HR is fresh in my mind.
