"Transitioning to a free-to-play model is a natural way to share all we've built with a broader community of players and we couldn't be more excited."
What this free-to-play model means is that the game will be available for download and play at no charge, with additional features being available "a la carte" via a virtual store. Current and new players can upgrade to Gold status for $14.99 a month, with features like guild creation and additional character slots only available to Gold subscribers.
