The Weekend Steam - 11/6/11

PC News | Super specials this weekend.
The Weekend Steam takes on a superhero flavour this weekend with the Steam Weekend Deal focusing its spotlight on DC Universe Online, which has been slashed by 50% for all you wannabe caped crusaders out there.

Other notable titles on sale this weekend include the zombielicious tag team of Dead Rising 2 and Resident Evil 5 for those with a penchant for action/survival horror gaming.

Set in a desolate future Earth, DC Universe Online is a super-powered MMO where players must create their own hero to fight against villains of the DC Comics universe, who are hell bent on wiping out the superhero population. Players will fight alongside other player-created characters and notable DC superheroes in a quest to save the planet Earth. We weren't totally sold on what the game had to offer when we spent some time with it earlier in the year, but we thought that "it is a fun, if shallow MMO," with comic fans sure to "get the most out of DC Universe Online". You can check out our full review of the title here.

I loved DCUO, it was a great game.. but it wasn't worthy of being called an MMO. The grind was far too tedius at end game, which was (ironically) the part they tried to sell to the market. However, most MMOs are just grinds, but DCUO charged Australians 20 dollars a month, compared to the $14.99 US that the rest of the world was getting (at a time when our dollar was 1.07 US on the exchange). So, I felt ripped off buying DCUO in the long run although it was a fun game for the first 2 months.
