Portal 2 DLC detailed

PC News | That was...fast.
Remember when Valve let on that Portal 2 DLC was coming soon? Feels like it was only yesterday. Well, it was yesterday. As soon as the news was up all over the internet, Valve got quick smart on a press release. We have the press release, and now we know what downloadable content is in store for Portal 2. Want to know more? Glance your eyes 1cm down to the paragraph below.

Detailed by the press release, Portal 2's first DLC pack will include brand new test chambers, a challenge mode for both single and multiplayer, leaderboards to compare stats, and the promise of 'more'. What is more? We dont know.

The pack is will go live on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Mac 'this summer'. Since Valve is based in America, they're referring to an American summer, which takes place between June and September. So expect the pack then! Oh, and 'how much will this cost me', we hear you ask? How does 'not a cent, on every platform' sound?

Free is good. Wonder what info the leaderboards will have on them. Speed runs I guess?

Free on 360 too? I guess Microsoft has had to do a BP 'we're sorry' when it comes to pushing valve around on their console.

Free is always good.

I <3 Valve.

I was gonna say that paying for stuff that was included in the package in Portal 1(Challenge maps) ticked me off, but then I read the word "free."

Go Valve!

EDIT: Wonder if this means the stuff wasn't ready when they wanted to release the full game, so instead of delaying the game they said something like "Stuff it, make it free DLC instead." If that's the case, even better.

Valve hasn't ever charged for DLC beyond hats and other cosmetics. You should see the stuff they've updated into TF2. There's a full games worth of crap added in since vanilla and it's all been 100% free.

When the official SDK is out, I'm going to have some fun with it...

go valve!! ...free stuff on XBL, thats an achievement!

Actually no! M$ rules dictate that achievements can only be added with paid content for DLC (which is completely insane). So I think the 360 will miss out on further achievements....

Didn't Kinect Sports get Achievements added with FREE DLC recently? Not the Calorie challengers thing that was released last week (because that costs 320MSP), but something earlier in the year.

Back in the days when add-on to the game was just through normal game patching... glad to see there are still exist free updates since a lot of things has a price tag to it now-a-day.
