Homefront special editions confirmed

PC News | Get those deposits down.
A press release from THQ has revealed what players can expect to find if they pre-order a special edition copy of Homefront. There will be two individual versions, depending on where you prefer to shop, but these extra goodies will be available across every platform - PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. If you're pre-ordering for consoles; it's going to be AU$109.95, while the PC equivalent is AU$79.95.

Customers at JB HiFi will receive the Homefront novel, written by John Milius (famously known for 'Apocalypse Now' and 'Red Dawn'). Also included is some downloadable content for multiplayer, a component which will run off dedicated servers. Three different pieces of camoflauge for your weapons should help to make you a bit more intimidating online.

The other version is available from EB Games and goes under the title of "Don't Tread On Me". Inside this curiously named bundle, the following will be included:

  • KPA Propaganda Passport
  • Resistance Cloth Patch
  • Concept Art Card
  • Remington 870 Shotgun
  • Multiplayer Unlock Pack

The latter two are extras for multiplayer, with the shotgun helping to give players an advantage when they're in a tight spot. A series of unique items will also be included; the 'Parrot AR Recon Drone', the 'Instant Repair Ability', and the 'SCAR Assault Rifle'.

Until the release day arrives, check out our preview right here.

Dunno about you guys, but I'll be getting the EB bundle and buying the novel separately.

Sweet, thanks for that. I'll be doing the same.

I'm also loving the prices as well, cheaper than your usual special edition. This is how more companies should do it.

It's only $10 less than the normal prices of CE's. $110 is still pricey.

Sorry Sin Ogaris, I thought A13x had typed it because your name is invisible

I'll stick with the standard edition.

$110 is the retail for a regular game, this is a special edition, that's fine by me. Special Edition for the price of any other games normal edition is awesome.

Yeah, $110 is retail, but if your paying that for a standard edition, then you're an idiot. Games are always $20-$30 cheaper on launch at select places. All I'm saying is, its only $10 less than normal pricing for CE's, hence I don't get all the fuss about the awesome price. $10 off is not all that awesome.

Yeah, and Special Editions are the same (unless they're store exclusive). So if it retails at 110 you can be pretty bloody sure it's going to be available on shelves around the 80 buck mark because that's what retailers do.
