Civilization Facebook title to launch in 2011

PC News | More addiction in store for Civ fanatics.
According to a report out of Joystiq, it looks like Take-Two Interactive's first attempt at a "social network game," Civilization Network will be hitting the Internet in 2011.

Details have been sketchy on the title with the game's own Facebook page remaining updateless since May this year. But that all changed over the weekend with Take Two's future CEO, Strauss Zelnick confirming the news during the BMO Capital Markets digital conference.

Zelnick stated that we should see the product "relatively soon," but still details on how the title is going to translate onto the social networking scene remain to be seen. Will it play like the Civ games we now and love? Or will it be nothing more that a Civilization flavoured version of FarmVille? Your guess is as good as ours.

For now Civ addicts, we will have to wait patiently for more information to surface.

I hope it's a proper Civ strategy title with multiplayer and not some sort of Farmville time sink. If so, I might actually play it =)

Chances of that are slim, Squenix have a facebook app that's mundane clicking of quests with pretty flash coupled around "pay me money for this addition!" and "ZOMG 501 FRIENDS WOWEWOWOW!" chances are if any parent company ports over to facebook they'll be doing it to nab some extra side cash and nothing more.
