Mass Effect 2: Lair of the Shadow Broker priced and dated

PC News | Ahh, I'll buy it at a high price.
About a month ago, almost to the day, we revealed that BioWare was working on a new downloadable content pack for Mass Effect 2 that would explore the saga of everyone's favourite blue alien Liara T'Soni in Lair of the Shadow Broker.

As silent as the Shadow Broker his/her/itself ever since announcement, BioWare today has finally revealed pricing and release date details, as well as a four new screenshots which can be found below.

Following the trend of once-per-month-paid-DLC, Lair of the Shadow Broker will go live on PC and Xbox 360 September 7 in the United States, and will be priced at 800 BioWare/Microsoft points. This makes it the most expensive Mass Effect 2 to date, with other mission packs Overlord and Kasumi's Stolen Memory costing 560 BioWare/Microsoft points. Converted to real world currency, Lair of the Shadow Broker is valued at AU$11.24.

As for detailing the package, BioWare has been tight-lipped, but promises that the adventure will take you and Liara from the Illium high life to the secret lair of the Shadow Broker, include five new achievements, a 'Shadow Broker intel center', new research, and the ability to continue your relationship with Liara should you have established one in Mass Effect.

Now that is a very nice bonus.

Y'know, relationships in ME3 are going to be incredibly complex. Consider the options they'll need to consider. There will be twenty two scenarios. Twenty-two*. And that's not even counting how this DLC may change this. I do not envy the scripting team here.

* And by 22, I mean 24. Whoops.

Man if I don't get to continue my relationship with Garrus in ME3 I'm going to be pissed.

Pretty sure there wasn't an option to 'remain faithful'? From what I recall, the only dialogue after your meet-up was along the lines of "oh well time to move on" with various degrees of sulk.

remaining faithfull would be romancing nobody in ME 2, and keeping the photo up.

Yeah, that's what I meant by that.

(FWIW, I have three Shepards. Chloe Shepard was scenario #4, Martina Shepard #6, and ... yes, I made the joke... Adrian Shepard was #8. I apparently cannot condone cheating.)

I was number 20.

Kaiden was kinda boring, but options in ME1 we're pretty limited.
It was purley physical for my sheppard.

Might be nice to chuck those 'scenarios' behind some spoiler taggery, yo.

Nice RE4 reference in the subtitle, I was so disappointed that the crusty merchant didn't return in RE5, but I suppose that was the least of that games problems. (NINE BLOODY SQUARES OF HELL! Being my primary concern)

Interesting words from Michael Gamble, the associate producer of ME2, over on the BioWare forums;

This is our biggest DLC yet, period.

It also marks the real beginning where we expand the ME2 story in preparation for ME3.

As time gets closer to release, we'll have coverage on more of the awesome things you can expect out of LotSB

Tali fucking terrifies me. I mean she goes from being sweet tech geek alien to "THEY DESERVED TO DIE! THEY WERE QUESTIONING THEIR EXISTANCE WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO MASSACRE THEM!" a little too quickly...

There were no female charecters througought the two games that I actually liked, although Liara's comic apparenace did warm her to me.

Just curious, how much is too much for romancing? Is there like a making love scene?

Now I am getting worried as I want to stay loyal but I think I might have gone too far in the conversation.

from what i've seen the 'romance' scene in ME2 was subdued from ME1

Edit: oh wait, i'm a n00b, that's not what you meant, is it? you meant is there a certain point where it triggers a 'romanced' flag in your save game meta-data... and that i don't know but i would also assume it triggers on the 'romance' scene

Awesome. Seriously have been waiting for a add-on like this for a while. Might even get the other expansions just to warm up.

Sorry, sorry. Fixed. Also, fixed it to the correct number. 24, not 22 scenarios!

Damm straight, I'd take Leigon over Tali in a heartbeat.

I don't think Tali's character changed that much. If you talk to her on the Normandy one, she's pretty clearly very hostile toward the Geth. (Try making any comments about how they were just trying to defend themselves and see how well that goes.) What has happened is that she's more assertive, more or less across the board. Which makes sense: She's a team leader now, not some young Quarian on her pilgrimage.

I didn't mean compared to the first game from the second game, I meant in one conversation.

You talk to her on Normandy 1 and she's all shy and explaining her pilgramage, then you mention the geth and BAM! THEY DESERVED TO DIE!

Having never played ME1 nor ME2, I am wondering if there is a GOTY for ME2 planned or already in existence with all the DLC included (in the second instance, obviously not including this latest DLC)? From all the comments in this thread as well as the ones in the other related threads, it seems like a game worth grabbing..

There isn't one for ME1, and honestly it's not really that important. There were only two DLC's for it, the first one was decent, the second one was balls.

I don't think there is one planned for ME2.
