Starcraft II Invitational Tournament announced for Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand

PC News | Better draw up those battle plans.
In a first for the region, Blizzard has announced that a Starcraft II online tournament is to be held across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The top sixteen players, based on Battle.net rankings, shall commence battle on September 10 and will be put into a double elimination bracket, with four finalists facing off against one another on September 12.

The Grand Prize on offer for the region is US$3000, with the first and second place winners also scoring an invite for Blizzcon 2010 in Anaheim, California.

Expect to see a lot of Protoos in the tourney: 9 P, 4 T, 3 Z right now

Anyone else find it funny that you can't actually tell who the top 16 are inside SC2 or on the battle.net website? =)

i'd expect more terran actually, seems to be more terran players than toss and zerg put together (plus there's a lot less people playing zerg seemingly). they should have a top 200 list on the site somewhere, NA had one anyway.

edit: got it, here. looks like i was wrong, lots of toss players high up.

the way i understand it sc2ranks is just ordering based off points, so it's more just showing who's played more matches.
