Released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in May, the game takes place ten years after the events of the first game, with the iconic snow having since melted away to reveal tropical jungles. Players take on waves of soldiers and monsters with a vast array of weapons and mechanized armor suits.
Not content with simply porting the game across, Capcom have enhanced the PC release of Lost Planet 2 with support for DirectX 11 effects, similar to how the PC release of the first game was enhanced with DirectX 10. DirextX 11 effects include lifelike volume and depth to smoke, realistic water surface reactions to characters and weapon impacts, and an overall improvement on character and boss detail. On top of this, the release will have full support for NVIDIA 3D Vision, allowing players with the appropriate peripherals to play the game with full 3D depth.
To accompany this announcement Capcom have launched a Lost Planet 2 technology demo. Based on two tests, the first test renders a typical game scenario to see how well the overall game will perform, while the second test benchmarks DirectX 11 effects and scenarios suited only for the most advanced systems.
