PC News | Doomed to... have fun?

In celebration of QuakeCon, the Weekend Steam is featuring specials on everything Doom.

Widely regarded as one of the pioneering first-person shooters, the first Doom game was originally released in 1993. The version of the game offered on Steam is The Ultimate Doom, complete with 8 new levels.

Also on offer are Doom II, Final Doom and Master Levels for Doom II. The latter two titles are add-on levels, for those who can't get enough demon-blasting action.

Rounding up the Doom compliation are Doom 3 and its expansion pack, Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil. Not sure if they are worth it? PALGN has written reviews for both titles here and here.

Gamers can also opt to buy the whole Doom compilation at a discount of 66%.

Horror junkies that still need a fix can check out Burn Zombie Burn!, an arena shooter that features a man named Bruce, his girlfriend named Daisy and lots of fire.

I forced myself not to bad the doom pack. I'd never play them with a huge backlog of games on steam I haven't touched yet.

I was checking out the QuakeCon 2010 pack that they have and in the title of it, it says "Every current id Software and Bethesda title!" or something like that.. so where is QuakeWars (Enemy Territory)? Hrmmm???

It's still a decent pack if you want to play all the older titles.. but to not include Quake Wars for the "QuakeCon" pack is a bit dumb...

Well that game was published by Activision, and had three different developers for each version of the game, with Splash damage responsible for the original PC code, so I'd assume that's why it's not included.
