Half-Life 2 on Mac tomorrow

PC News | Dr. Breen is watching.
Those cats at Valve are at it again. Coming off the Mac debut of their critically acclaim puzzle solver Portal, Vavle are following up with a release of their equally acclaimed first person shooter Half-Life 2.

Set in a bleak, dystopian future where Combine rule is law, Half-Life 2 graced our computer screens in 2004, putting us back in the shoes of the oh-so-silent theoretical physicist Gordon Freeman as he churned through zombies, monsters, and alien soldiers, with some physics puzzles thrown in for good measure.

Upon release Half-Life 2 earned over 40 'Game of the Year' awards, and still ranks as one of the highest rated games of all time.

Though its two episodic sequels are not included, this nugget of gaming gold will tomorrow see a release across Steam for all Mac hardware. Always one to poke a bit of fun, Valve has built a special Half-Life 2 Mac release trailer that harkens back to Apple's 1984 commercial. Watch, and enjoy.

No mention of the achievements added to both Half-Life 2 and Episode 1? While I agree it's hardly news worthy on it's own, this article seems the right place to point it out. "Half-Life 2 on Mac tomorrow, with achievements" or some such.

Edit: Fair enough Jarrod, just imagined they'd announce the changes to coincide with the Mac launch.

Anyway, got through Ravenholm last night, for some reason my Heavy Weapons achievement didn't get updated to the server, so Steam thinks I don't have it. Had a similar issue with Portal where Cupcake wasn't updated properly.

If anyone else has the same or a similar issue, rename your gamestate.txt (in \Steam\steamapps\*username*\half-life 2\hl2), go unlock the achievement again, and then append your original gamestate.txt to match the change and replace the new one with your old one. This way achievements like Camera Shy or Lambda Locator will retain their progress (obviously if achievements like those bug out I don't have a solution).

just saw the lists. more reason for another playthrough of all three (and to eventually launch that damn garden gnome into space).

I dont remember the achievements, along with the other changes (such as HDR), being listed when I posted the news yesterday.
